With 22 wickets, Abbas is now the second-highest wicket-taker in the County Championship’s premier division. In the five matches he has played thus far in the championship, Abbas has taken these wickets at 17.81.
He joins fellow Pakistani bowler Hasan Ali, who has 24 wickets at an average of 18.50 in four matches so far.
The medium-pacer will be trying to pique the interest of national team selectors and reclaim his place in the Test squad. Abbas last appeared in international cricket in 2021, when Pakistan visited the West Indies. Abbas was just named a reserve player for the Test series against Australia, and he will be looking to make into the squad for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka.
