Director Anees Bazmee has confirmed his exit from the much-awaited threequel ‘Hera Pheri’. He is also shocked about Akshay Kumar doing the film.
Rumors have been rife for a long time that the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ director is being roped in to helm the next film in the ‘Hera Pheri’ comedy franchise. However, recent reports that came after the trio cast was finalised, suggested that the hitmaker has been replaced by Farhad Samji to direct the project.
Bazmee has now cleared the matter and confirmed his exit from the project. Speaking to an Indian media outlet he confirmed the news and revealed that he took the step due to an incomplete script.
“I met producer Firoz Nadiadwala several times. It didn’t have much of a story let alone a script,” Bazmee told the publication.
“Unhone jo mujhe idea bataya woh kuch jammee bahin, maina na keh diya (the idea he threw at me didn’t hit me so I said no),” he thought. “No scenario without success. It is so simple. That’s why I’m putting so much time into my next script.”
Coming back to ‘Hera Pheri 3’ which is apparently called ‘Hera Pheri 4’, Bazmee commented, “After I rejected the offer, now I hear that the film will be directed by someone else.”
He also revealed, “Akshay Kumar who was completely against making the film without a proper script apparently agreed to be a part of it. I don’t know how or why. Only he will be able to say.”
“Speaking for myself, I am no longer part of this project.” When probed further if the decision is taken on the fact that his previous payment from Nadiadwala is pending for the latest film, Bazmee claimed, “Yes, that too. But if I liked the idea of the story, I probably would have gone ahead. Lekin aisa kuch tha hi nahin, (there was nothing to tempt me to do the film).
It is pertinent to mention that the OG ‘Hera Pheri’ trio Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal shot for the first promo earlier this week. The very first photo from the sets with the characters went viral on social media.
