A short teaser trailer for the second Avatar film has been released, offering fans a taste of what they may expect when the film hits theatres in December.
Movie Avatar: the Way of Water is a sequel to the first Avatar film released in 2009. The film became the highest-grossing film of all time and went on to win three Oscars.
The clip begins with many avatars bouncing around rocks and amazing scenery similar to the first portion.
Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel, and Edie Falco will join the cast, and returning cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver.
A few sequences set in the ocean were featured in the trailer, with avatars flying across the waters on the backs of dragon-like creatures. Only one line of dialogue is heard in the clip, spoken by Jake Sully, who Worthington mimics.
He said, “I know one thing. Wherever we go, this family is our fortress.”
The Sully family, Jake, Neytiri, and their children will be the focus of the second picture, directed by James Cameron and set more than a decade after the events of the first.
It will follow them as they face difficulty and go to great lengths to protect one another. They fight for survival and eventually succumb to catastrophes.
Before its general release, the trailer was screened in theatres.
