The Tiger Shroff-starrer Heropanti 2 is suffering a significant dip on Monday, with early indications indicating a 60 to 65 per cent drop in collections compared to Sunday. Compared to Friday, the film has declined more than 75% until Monday evening screenings. We predict the final decrease to be in the 60 per cent area, implying the first-day collection of Rs 1.50 to 1.75 crore.
This translates to a four-day total of Rs 16.25 crore. With Eid Holiday on Tuesday, commerce should go up a little, but it won’t help the film much to put up a face-saving total. Heropanti 2 is now aiming for a lifetime of less than Rs 30 crore, which would be a disastrous result for the film. If it hadn’t been for Eid, the lifetime total of this Ahmed Khan flick would have been less than Rs 20 crore, as a Rs 1.65 crore Monday would have been followed by a steady slide from Tuesday to Thursday before it was pulled from theatres on the second Friday.
On Monday, the second Eid release, Runway 34, is stable but at lower levels. The film is showing a nominal reduction of 20% on Monday, and with night screenings still to come, the ultimate drop percentage is projected to be in the 12 to 15% range. Keeping this in mind, early indications point to a fourth-day collection of Rs 2.65 to 2.80 crore. While the decline is minor, given the weekend’s low numbers, the Ajay Devgn film needed to do better on Monday than on Friday to have a long run at the box office.
The business will receive some boost on Tuesday and Wednesday owing to Eid celebrations, but this won’t be significant because Runway 34 doesn’t cater to the Eid demographic. The film’s four-day total has now reached Rs 15.90 crore. With a boost on Tuesday and Wednesday, the first week of Runway 34 will earn roughly Rs 25 crore, and then it will be all about how it manages to compete with an opponent like Doctor Strange. So far, the trend indicates a lifetime total of less than Rs 40 crore, which is a travesty for a picture of this calibre. Yes, the image was released with a special appeal, and this is a genre that has struggled at the box office during the pandemic. But everyone expected more from a film starring Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan.
KGF 2, on the other hand, is still reigning supreme at the box office. It’s the best-performing film on Monday, with no dip in collections compared to Friday. KGF 2’s 19th-day collection will be approximately 4 crores.
