‘Cocaine Bear’ topped the box office on Friday.
On its opening night, it earned $8.65 million, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.
The comedy, directed by Elizabeth Banks, who The Post said “keeps the powder gags fresh,” is based on a true story of a Georgia black bear that ate millions of dollars worth of wasted cocaine.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which was in first place last week, climbed to second place with $8.3 million.
The plummeting sales for the superhero movie, which cost about $200 million to make, marks the worst second-week drop for a Marvel film, according to Deadline.
Avatar: The Way of Water remained in third place with $1.1 million in sales.
With the success of the film, a sequel to 2009’s “Avatar,” director James Cameron is now only one step away from surpassing Steven Spielberg to become the highest-grossing director of all time, Screenrant reported.
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” the final chapter in the Channing Tatum-led strip trilogy, came in fourth, earning $905,000.
“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” which was fourth last Friday, dropped to fifth this week, earning $890,000.
