Proton has finally started shipping locally produced X70 SUVs to customers. Al-Haj Automotive began local manufacturing of the X70 earlier this year and is running at full capacity to meet demand.
There is a 6- to the 7-month waiting period for Proton X70 delivery. Customers who book any model of the X70 today, according to several dealerships, will receive their orders in November or December.

In December 2020, Al-Haj Automotive introduced the Proton X70 as a direct competitor to the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and MG HS.
It comes in two flavors: Executive and Premium. Both models are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine with 176 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. The 7-speed DCT automatic transmission gives power to either the front or all four wheels (depending on the variant).
A digital instrument cluster displays the vehicle’s vital information, steering wheel controls, a push-start button, power-folding mirrors, a day-night rearview mirror, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and other advanced driver aids are standard on the Proton X70.
According to market reports, due to the testing of locally produced units, Proton will be unable to sell a single X70 in March 2022. The SUV is expected to rapidly acquire traction in the local market now that the testing is over.
