Fans have been waiting since 2021 for the second season of Dopesick, an original show on Hulu.
The American medical drama, which Danny Strong made, is about the country’s struggle with the opioid epidemic when more and more people were becoming addicted to drugs and destroying their lives.
The limited series is based on Beth Macy’s 2018 nonfiction book, “Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Hooked America.”
Michael Keaton plays Dr Samuel, one of the doctors who got America hooked on drugs. The series looks like it’s from another world because they filmed in the same places.
Will there be season 2 of Dopesick?
The first episode of the medical show came out a year ago, and there are still no signs of a second season. The first episode aired on October 13, 2021, and the last was on November 17, 2021.
The last episode wrapped up in a way that didn’t leave room for a second season. Also, the show’s creator, Danny Strong, said it would be a miniseries, but he has shown interest in making another season about the opioid crisis after 2007.
We can also look forward to a spinoff of the Michael Keaton series that will continue the prosecution of Richard Sackler and show how other big companies helped him grow his business. Little Fires Everywhere season 2 is an eight-part Hulu limited series that people have been looking forward to.
Is Dopesick based on a true story?
Part of Dopesick is based on the true story of how the addictive painkiller OxyContin helped spread the opioid crisis in Tennessee.
State media said that the man in charge of opioids in Nashville was also addicted to the same drug and had to take as many as 100 pills a day.
Based on the same-titled book by Beth Macy, the series can be broken up into four different times.
One follows a high-ranking member of the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the other follows two prosecutors from Virginia who did their investigation into the Purdue Pharma case.
The third part is about Richard Sackler, the former president and chairman of the bad pharmaceutical company. According to NPR, Sackler was a key player in starting an epidemic that affected millions of Americans. The last part is about Dr Samuel Finnix and his patient Betsy Mallum.
Is Bridget Meyer a natural person?
Officer Bridget is a made-up character from the book series by Beth Macy of the same name. She is a high-ranking member of the Drug Enforcement Agency who works to bring Purdue Pharma down.
It’s sad to hear that such a brave person doesn’t exist in real life, but don’t worry. There are a lot of hard-working, competent police officers in America who are just like her.
Even though there are a lot of con artists and people who take bribes, America works because there are people like Officer Bridget Meyer who are constantly fighting the bad guys. These people should get a medal for what they did.
Who will be cast in season 2 of Dopesick?
Cast members for Season 2 of Dopesick are:
- Michael Stuhlbarg as Richard Sackler
- Bridget Meyer, as played by Rosario Dawson
- Dr Samuel Finnix, played by Michael Keaton,
- Billy Cutler, played by Will Poulter
- Peter Sarsgaard plays Rick Mountcastle.

- Betsy Mallum, played by Kaitlyn Dever
Trailer
Hulu hasn’t released a teaser, trailer, or promotional video for Dopesick season 2 yet because it’s unclear if the show will be back for a second season. It might come out in the future, but you can’t get it right now.
What will happen in Dopesick season 2?
The good miniseries skillfully weaves together facts and looks at the terrible causes and effects of the opioid crisis in the U.S. caused by Purdue Pharma.
Even though it seems like the series has covered almost everything about the epidemic, there is always something left to talk about, like the role of other big pharmaceutical companies in the distribution of OxyContin.
At the end of season 1, Mountcastle and Ramseyer were given a new case about a different pharmaceutical business. So, in Dopesick season 2, the two will again work together to expose another drug company.
