Flames Zadorov to have hearing for hit on Glendening

According to NHL Player Safety, a Calgary Flames defenseman will face a hearing on Saturday for an illegal check to the head of a Dallas Stars forward.

Zadorov whacked Glendening up high with his elbow in the second period of Friday night’s Game 6, forcing the veteran center to exit the game temporarily with an upper-body injury. After the game, head coach Rick Bowness told reporters that he didn’t know whether Glendening would be ready to play in Game 7 but struggled with a different lower-body issue.

Zadorov was not penalized on the play and played 18:42 in Calgary’s 4-2 defeat. Bowness referred to the strike as a “headshot” after the game.

The two clubs will play Game 7 in Calgary on Sunday night, with the victor advancing to face the Edmonton Oilers vs. Los Angeles Kings series winner, which will be determined Saturday night.
