Michael Peña’s Marvel Cinematic Universe character Luis is notably absent Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, and may explain why the film failed. Director Peyton Reed returns to complete it Ant man franchise with the heroes’ biggest and most dangerous mission to date. In the “triquel”, the Ant-Man team faces off against Kang the Conqueror. Set to be the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, he is a big step up from the previous competitors in the film series. Despite the excellent arrangement, in the end, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania it’s a disappointment.
Admittedly, the audience seems to be enjoying themselves Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, opening Phase 5 of the MCU with the oft-underrated Avenger is by design in an effort to emphasize his importance. It’s also likely an indication of what role he’ll play in the franchise’s next major event. Unfortunately, Ant Man 3 Reviews have been mixed, with critics having quite a few issues with the story and pacing of the third installment. The specific issues, however, can be boiled down to one specific element – the absence of fan favorite Luis who played a large role in the previous Ant man movie theater.
Why Luis wasn’t in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
The film itself does not explain why Luis is nowhere to be found. Besides him, his other friends, Dave and Kurt, also don’t appear. The last time he was in the MCU, however, was back Ant-Man & the Wasp; before Thanos snaps and undoes it Avengers: Endgame. Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania he completely ignores them. Still, considering how beloved Luis was, he’s sorely missed, especially given how important a role he’s played in Scott Lang’s arc thus far. After persistent questioning, Reed explained Luis’ absence Ant Man 3but his reasons are very unsatisfactory.
According to the director, there is no version of it Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania which has Luis in it. From the beginning, they decided on the narrative they wanted to tell and it just so happened that the character didn’t work. Reed cites the already packed film, with all the new players being introduced, and the desire to focus on the Lang family as the main reasons for not including Luis.
Luis’ absence shows how Quantumania betrayed the Ant-Man Franchise
Since the majority of the film takes place in the Quantum Realm, it’s understandable that several of the franchise’s human characters don’t make an appearance. That includes Cassie Lang’s mom and stepdad. However, while this is true for most Ant-Man & the Wasp: QuantumaniaIn his absence, Luis should definitely be in the movie. The movie started and ended on Earth, so Marvel Studios could easily incorporate him into one or both.
Overall, Reed’s reasons for sidelining Luis don’t make sense. It’s absurd to prioritize new characters, who may not even have a long-term role in the MCU, over a fan favorite. Since they are part of it Ant Man 3Quantum Realm world-building shouldn’t have come at the expense of someone with strong ties to the franchise. Plus, while Luis isn’t related to the Langs by blood, he’s more like family to Scott. In both Ant man movies, he willingly risked his life to help the Ant-Man team. He’s been nothing but a loyal friend and ally to Scott, and he deserves to be a part of it Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania’s cast.
Luis’ death could have been the emotional core of Quantumania
Luis symbolizes everything that worked in the minor franchise. Hi is this funny? represents the power of second chances and found families. Considering how much it meant to Scott, seeing Kang the Conqueror kill him could be his emotional core Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania. While Reed wanted to focus on Scott and Cassie’s relationship, there was no way Marvel Studios would end either of them, given that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is still on the horizon. Given how beloved Luis is, his death could also prove just how much of a threat Kang is, similar to Thanos’ merciless killing of Loki in Avengers: Infinity War.
