Nintendo has postponed its animated Super Mario Bros until next spring. The movie will star ‘Star Lord’ Chris Pratt.
When will the movie come out in North America? April 7, 2023.
Last fall, at a Nintendo Direct event, they said the movie would be out in a few months. The film was supposed to come out on December 21, but it didn’t. That’s not all. The company has now moved the release date to spring 2023.
Super Mario Bros. movie creator Shigeru Miyamoto said in a tweet that the movie will come out on April 7, 2023, in Japan and on May 28, 2023, 2023, 2023 in the United States.
That’s not all: He did not say how Chris Pratt would play Mario or give us a title. We’ve had a lot of questions about this project since it was first announced in 2018.
This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023–April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies but I promise it will be well worth the wait.

The first Sonic movie was a big hit. We can see how true that can be now.
“This is Miyamoto. You are not ready for Chris Pratt. But he’s coming. He is inevitable. You cannot run forever.”

The editors had to fix some parts of the Sonic movie after people pointed them out in a trailer for the Mario movie. The film was put on hold for three months at first.

There are many different reports that the movie is being pushed back so that it can “optimize the family audience” with a release on Easter weekend next year.
