Finance Minister Miftah Ismail announced on Saturday the start of the registration procedure for the Prime Minister’s (PM’s) Petrol Relief Package (Sasta Petrol, Sasta Diesel Scheme), which he announced in his Friday speech. The subsidy would be given to women who are the head of the family and earn less than Rs. 40,000 per month, according to the specifications.
Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme
The Petrol Relief Package would offer Rs. 2,000 subsidy to households with a monthly income of less than Rs. 40,000 to relieve them of the burden of the country’s extraordinarily high petrol costs, which have recently increased by Rs. 30 per liter.
Miftah Ismail said during a press conference in Islamabad that households who are already enrolled in the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will receive Rs. 2,000 automatically under the Prime Minister Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme, while households who are not enrolled in BISP can apply for the program by sending their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 786 to see if they are eligible.
He further stated that the CNIC belonged to a woman since the Petrol Relief Package subsidy will only be given to a woman head of home with an income of less than Rs. 40,000. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the subsidy amount was equivalent to 5% of these households’ total revenue.
More than 14 million families are projected to benefit from the Sasta Petrol, Sasta Diesel Scheme, including Rs. 2,000 subsidies. However, it’s worth noting that 7.3 million of these people were already enrolled in the BISP. Thus the remaining families will have to call 786 to apply for the Petrol Relief Package.
How to Apply For Petrol Relief Package?
You may apply for the program after sending your CNIC number to 786 and checking your eligibility for the Petrol Relief Package Rs. 2,000 subsidies. However, the CNIC must belong to a woman who is the head of the home, as the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme would only transmit donations to women.
According to Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, after you apply/register for the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme by submitting your CNIC to 786, you will be notified of your eligibility within three days. Only households with an annual income of less than Rs. 40,000 would be considered for the Petrol Relief Package, as previously stated.
